Second International Workshop on
Quality of Information Systems QoIS

http://deptinfo.cnam.fr/qois2006/

in conjunction with the
25th International Conference on Conceptual
Modeling (ER 2006)

6-9 november 2006 Tucson, Arizona, USA

Theme and Objectives

Quality in the domain of Information Systems (IS) and Conceptual Modeling (CM) is a relatively new research direction. However, it appears more and more as a key issue for IS and CM research and practice as noticed during past ER workshops (QoIS'05, IWCMQ'03, and IWCMQ'02) and as witnessed by the recent DKE special issue on conceptual model quality (Vol 55, No 3).

Ongoing research on quality in IS and CM encompasses theoretical aspects including quality definition and/or quality models. These theoretical contributions lead to methods, approaches and tools for quality measurement and/or improvement. Most approaches focus on specific environments, such as web site quality, data warehouse quality, ontologies quality, workflow model quality, etc. The QoIS workshop we wish to organize at ER 2006 intends to promote all areas related to information systems quality: data quality, information quality, system quality as well as model, method and process quality. The aim of the workshop is twofold. Firstly, to bring together researchers and industry developers working on several aspects of information systems quality, in order to share their works and discuss them. Secondly, to attract a broader audience around information systems quality issues.
Both theoretical and practical aspects of information systems will be considered. . We seek papers that address the topics described below from a wide range of perspectives.

Topics of interest for the workshop include but are not limited to the methodologies, techniques, models, tools and applications for :

  • IS quality concepts
  • IS quality improvement and monitoring
  • Quality ontologies
  • Formal methods for quality metrics definition and validation
  • Quality costs and benefits
  • Requirements quality
  • Data, database and data warehouse quality
  • IS quality practices : case studies and experiences
  • Application areas such as e-commerce, web based information systems, component based IS, ontologies, etc.
  • Specific contexts of quality : health sector, logistics, public sector, financial institutions, etc.

Submission of Papers

Authors are invited to submit original papers on the topics listed above. To ensure high quality, all papers will be thoroughly peer reviewed by the Program Committee. Papers should be limited to 10 pages, Springer LNCS format (http://www.springer.de/comp/lncs/authors.html).

Accepted papers will be published as part of the ER2006 Workshop volume, planned for publication by Springer in their LNCS series.

Papers should be submitted using electronic mail as a PDF file to qois@cnam.fr. Intentions to submit should be notified by email (title, authors and abstract) : qois@cnam.fr.
